Richard L. "Rick" Hughes, 70, of Bannock, Ohio died October 26, 2014 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio April 21, 1944, son of the late Bertrand and Nettie Mae Jones Hughes.
Richard was a retired coal miner and employee of Blon Masonry. He was a member of the Bannock United Methodist Church. Rick enjoyed fishing and hunting, he was an avid gardener and was well known for his handyman skills. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed immensely.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Wayne and David Allen Hughes; and a sister Virginia Taylor.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Myra Frazier Kendzora Hughes; two daughters, Kimberly (Paul) Gossett and Lori (Larry) Sliva; a son, Rich (June Hughes; six grandchildren, Melissa and Jay Gossett, Chantel and Caitlin Sliva, Amy Sadlowski and David Stack Jr; four sisters, Vivian Cuiksa, Barbara Daley, Betty Thomas and Jean Paxton; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastors David Powell and Gerald Blon officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
