Richard Eugene "Whitey" Rinkes, 85, of St. Clairsville, died June 5, 2018 at Park Health Center.
He was born in St. Clairsville April 15, 1933 son of the late Charles and Myrtle Rinkes.
Whitey was a retired carpenter. He served in the Army Paratroopers during the Korean War. He was a member of the former Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, the Lansing Sportsman's Club and St. Clairsville American Legion Post 159.
In addition to his parents, Whitey was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Sneddon Rinkes, now they are together again; his eldest daughter, Jill Szilagyi; a sister, Leota Hoblick and a brother, Edward Rinkes.
Surviving are two daughters, Jan Rinkes of El Mirage, Arizona and Jerri Ullom of St. Clairsville; a brother, Charles "Chuck" (Jeanne) Rinkes of Bedford, Texas; a sister, Donna "Boots" (Truman) Kelly of Blacksburg, Virginia; three grandchildren, Todd (Davette) Alwine, Corey (Mary Smith) Ullom and Rod Alwine and five great grandchildren, Dylan, Calystah, Hailey, Giannah and Blaze.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville from 4 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. with Pastor Ela J. Robertson officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association at 7 p.m.
Private interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens.
