Richard E. "Dick" Sadlowski, 65, of St. Clairsville, died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at his home. He was born on October 12, 1938 in Bellaire, son of the late Margaret Kovaly Sadlowski and Edward Sadlowski.
He retired from the U. S. Army as Sergeant First Class with 20 years of service having served during Vietnam. While serving his country he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Dick was owner and operator of A. & J. Janitorial. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 5356 and the American Legion Post # 159 both at St. Clairsville and the National Vietnam Veterans Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Rose Sadlowski; five uncles, Andy, Steve, John "Ted", Mike and Joe Kovaly; and aunt, Ann Brown.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Anna Maria Sadlowski; two daughters, Margaret Dewey of Columbus, OH and Rose Sadlowski-Hopp of Virginia; three sons, Antonio "Vic" Sadlowski and Andrew Sadlowski both of Pittsburgh, PA and Joseph Sadlowski of St. Clairsville; six grandchildren, Jacob and Joseph Dewey, Christian Hopp, Lucas and Logan Sadlowski and Rebekah Sadlowski; a sister, Diane Ellison of Florida; a brother, Robert Sadlowski of Martins Ferry; half-sisters, Linda Spano of Flushing and Marsha Lenevich of Belmont; a stepsister, Gloria Holland of Illinois; stepbrothers; an aunt, Helen Kovaly Cooper of Powhatan Point; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary?s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville with Father Thomas Chillog the celebrant. Burial will follow at Warnock Cemetery, Warnock, Ohio where Full Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of VFW?s. A Vigil Service will be held on Sunday at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
