Obituary

Richard Cullum Althar, 74, of Bellaire, Ohio, died September 6, 2021, at his home. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was born June 2, 1947 in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of the late Richard T. Althar and Dorothy Cullum Althar.

Richard was a retired employee from 1st Energy in Dilles Bottom and former employee of Bellaire Hospital. He was a member of the AFL-CIO Union Local #350.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Richard Althar II and four infant sons, five infant daughters, and his dog, Mario.

Surviving is his loving wife of 49 years, Monica Bannan Althar; his daughter, Lorrie (Jamie) Palmer; grandchildren, Brody Holt, Calleigh Holt, Hanna Palmer and Marissa Pacifico; and special Goddaughter, Haleigh Hughes.

The family wants to send special thanks to Cathy Jacovetty and Dane'e Pacifico for their wonderful care.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A visitation will also be held at St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 9:30 a.m., with Father Daniel Heusel the celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Bellaire.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Richie Althar Memorial Scholarship, C/O: Bellaire High School, 349 35 th St. Bellaire, OH 43906.
