Regina Yanik Hajdin beloved wife and mother died Sunday Sept 28, 2008 after a long hard fought battle with breast cancer. Regina was 54 years old and is survived by her husband of 31 years, Michael J. Hajdin, daughter, Christine E. Hajdin 22; a son, Michael A. Hajdin 18, brother, Andrew (AJ) Yanik of Wheeling, WV, niece, Nicole Yanik as well as her parents, Elvera (Cerra) Yanik and Andy Yanik of St. Clairsville, OH. Regina was born September 16, 1954 in St. Clairsville, OH.
Regina, a graduate of St. Clairsville high school in the class of 1972 received her Bachelors degree in Nursing from the Ohio State University. She worked as an intensive care nurse over a span of 32 years at a number of hospital?s including the Cleveland Clinic, Pasadena Bayshore hospital in Houston, TX, the Beaver County hospital in Beaver, PA, the West Chester hospital in West Chester, PA and most recently at the Mount Carmel St. Anne?s hospital in Westerville, OH.
Regina was an active member of St. John Neumann?s parish in Sunbury, OH where she resided until death. Her energetic and dynamic personality made her loved and well known by many and she will certainly be greatly missed. Regina was a dedicated wife and mother devoting much of her free time doing charity work for others. She taught CCD classes at her parish, actively volunteered time for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, prepared meals at the local Salvation Army and was a pioneer for bringing computers in her local school district. Regina was also a gifted artist and her handmade Christmas cards are still treasured by those lucky enough to have been on her list.
Friends will be received 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville on Thursday with a Vigil Service at 3 PM.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph?s Church in Fairpoint, OH on Friday Oct. 3 at 11:00 AM with Father Thomas Graven and Father David Sizemore as co-celebrants. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
