West, Rayford Andrew, Sr., 92 of McClainsville Rd., Bellaire, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 11, 2010. He was the son of the late George Otho and Alta Eugenia (Clary) West. He was born March 17, 1917 in Piedmont, Guernsey Co., OH.
He was a member of Coalbrook Presbyterian Church at Neffs, Ohio, a graduate of Bellaire High School class of 1935 and an avid fan of the BIG REDS. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a life member of VFW Post 626 in Bellaire. He was retired from the former International Harvester at Shadyside.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Katherine Jane (Kuntz) West; a brother Elmer E. West of Sarasota, FL; a sister, Anna Harbaugh of Bellaire, OH? a niece, Judy (West) Hobbs of Georgia; a granddaughter, Alta Renee Ramsay and a dear friend, James "Tiny" Ramsay.
He is survived by a son, Rayford Andrew West, Jr. of Bellaire; daughters, Kendra (Tom) Yingling of Bridgeport and Betty Ann Ramsay of Dillonvale; 7 grandchildren, Lisa Ann (Lee) Price of Beallsville; Michael (Theresa) Bumgardner of Bellaire; Samala (Allen) Lutman of Dillonvale; Kelly Yingling (Cliff Howard) of Wheeling; Ginny Kay Yingling (Eric Wade) of Bridgeport; Delitha West and children of Woodsfield and Dawn Hendershot and children; 12 great grandchildren, Erica, Cassandra and Brenda Price of Beallsville, Katherine "Katie" and Lindsey Bumgardner of Bellaire, Mark (Sarah) Lutman and Jennifer (Michael) Rednour all of Ste. Genevieve, MO, Ramsay Dunn, Abagail and Blake Elizabeth Lutman all of Dillonvale, Kayla and Kevin Wick of Martins Ferry; 4 great great grandchildren, Trevor Wolk, Connor Lutman and Kayleigh Rednour all of Ste. Genevieve, MO and Issac Matthew Wick of Martins Ferry; nieces, Dina (Kenny) Reese of Lima, OH, Jane Schmitt and Nancy Beardsley both of Sarasota, FL; a nephew, Walter "Skip" Ehert of Barnesville; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Przeracki of Cadiz; cousins and countless friends.
Friends and family will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. where services will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Bill Burris officiating.
Belmont County Council of VFW?s will conduct military honors on Monday at 1:15 p.m.
