MSC\SS Randy L. Schmitt (Ret), 57 of Flushing, Ohio died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his home.
He was born May 3, 1957 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Francis Schmitt and Margaret DeLeau Schmitt.
Randy was a retired U.S. Navy veteran having served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was currently employed as manager of Longhorn Steakhouse in St. Clairsville.
He was a 1975 graduate of Union Local High School and a member of United Methodist Real Life Community of Faith in Bethesda.
He loved his Longhorn family, family golf outings, slow pitch softball, and was an avid Steelers fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Francis Schmitt, Jr., Marcella Demkowitcz, and Gary "Gar" Schmitt.
Surviving are his loving wife, Wendy Whinnery Schmitt; four children, Shawna (Jason) Parker of Centerville, Will Burnham of Flushing, Jeremy Walter (Carrie) Schmitt of Bremerton, Washington, and Cary (Destiny) Schmitt of Lafferty; four grandchildren, Karlie Parker, Logan Parker, James Schmitt, and Kelly Schmitt; his loving adopted children, Lance, Angela, and Lauren Earliwine, and Adam Miller; life long best friend, MCS\SS Cary Maikranz, Sr. (Ret); brothers and sisters, Roger Schmitt, Patty Palmer, Robert "Herm" Schmitt, Sandy McConnaughy, Rick Schmitt, Donny Schmitt, Danny Schmitt, and Jimmy Schmitt; many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dawn Livingston and Rev. Ashley Steele officiating.

Full Military Honors will be provided by the Belmont County Veterans Association at 10:45 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
