Portia Yvonne Jackson, 82, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died on June 19, 2026, at her home.

She was born in Bellaire, Ohio, on October 22, 1943, daughter of the late Alfred Boyd and Anna Laura Pitts Boyd.

A graduate of Bellaire High School, Portia had retired from H & R Block and had previously worked for Prudential in Wheeling. She was member of the Tree of Life Church in Martins Ferry and was formerly active in Red Devil Moms. Attending her church was very important to her, and some of her interests included: bowling, bingo, shopping, and Longaberger Baskets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Jackson Sr., a daughter, DeAndrea Jackson, seven siblings, Eric Pitts, Geraldine Pitts, Sherrie Pitts, Linda “Bobo” Pitts, Cecelia Pitts Boyd, Eva May Pitts and Brenda “Sparkle” Pitts.

Portia is survived by her three sons, Melvin Jackson Jr., Maurice (Christy) Jackson and Chris (Wendy) Jackson; two sisters, Barbara Ann Siler and Janice “Tootie” Boyd; and two grandchildren, Jermaine (Kayla) Jackson and Elijah Simon.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at the Tree of Life Church in Martins Ferry, Ohio on Sunday, July 12th at 2 p.m., with Pastor James M. Agnew officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
