Philip L. Johnson Sr., 77, loving husband, father and grandfather of Flushing, Ohio died Sunday, July 22, 2007 at his home.
He was born March 22, 1930 in Maynard, Ohio, a son of the late Clyde and Julia Hudock Johnson.
Philip was a retired Laboratory Technician from the City of St. Clairsville with 26 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Sportsman?s Club and the Foresters Club both in Lansing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Lincoln; and two sisters, Dorothy and Priscilla.
Surviving are his loving wife, Ruth H. VanDyne Johnson; two sons, Philip (Sandra) Johnson Jr. of Bannock and Andy Johnson of the home; two daughters, Brenda Johnson of the home and Kelly Johnson and companion John of New Athens; two grandchildren, Philip Johnson III and Jennifer Johnson; four brothers, Tim (Charlotte) Johnson of Carrolton, Jerry Johnson of St. Clairsville, Francis (Donna) Johnson of Lansing and Bobby (Wanda) Johnson of Lansing; three sisters, Isabelle Robison of Lansing, Lillian Capalingo of Canton and Judy (Jerry) Manukin of Lansing; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Father Thomas Hamm officiating. Full military honors will be held at 10:50 a.m. by the Belmont County Council of American Legions. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
