Pauline Hazel Gilliam Godsey, 83 of St. Clairsville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 28, 2006. She was born April 24, 1923 in Leyland, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Emmett Gilliam and Beatrice Bailey Gilliam.
She was a retired Registered Nurse from University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland with 36 years of service, a member of First Baptist Church in St. Clairsville and former member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Baltimore where she served as Mother of the church, choir member and was founder and president of the Nurses Guild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Godsey; a brother and sister.
Although she had no children of her own she helped raise many nieces and nephews.
Surviving are a brother, Deacon Leonard Gilliam of St. Clairsville; a sister, Willie Mae Black of Columbus, Ohio; special sister, Juanita Sams of Columbus; her niece who was raised as a sister, Dorothy Taylor of Columbus; many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received on Friday from noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Newel Ave. in St. Clairsville with Dr. Carl Denson officiating. Burial follows in Stone Church Cemetery, Elm Grove, West Virginia.
