Funeral services, celebrating the life of Paul Mingyar, of Buckeye Lake, formerly of St. Clairsville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 in the chapel of Toothman Funeral Home in St Clairsville, burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Bellaire.
Paul passed away March 9, 2011. He was born in Wendel, West Virginia, the son of the late John and Mary (Hricik) Mingyar.
He served honorably in the US army during WWII.
He was a retired professor emeritus of Zoology, at Ohio University-Eastern. Paul made a difference to many as an outstanding educator in the valley, with over 40 years of service to his students. While working at Shadyside High School, the College of Steubenville & Ohio University.
He was a member of the Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church in Buckeye Lake, former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club, and Buckeye Lake Eagles.
He is survived by daughter, Polly Mingyar and her husband Rich Boucher of Hebron/ Buckeye Lake, son, Dennis Mingyar, his wife Beth and children Colin and Jacob of Lancaster; sister-in-law Roberta Mingyar, of Clarksburg, W.V.; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Mary Margaret Dennis Mingyar, in 2003.
Friends may call on Friday, March 11, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at The Hoskinson Funeral Home, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville.
Visitation will be held again at the Toothman Funeral Home in St Clairsville on Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 10:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. with Father Bradley Greer officiating.
Belmont County Council of American Legions will conduct full military honors on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
