Okie Eugene Barton, Jr. "Baby Okie", of Glencoe, a deeply adored son, brother and uncle died Monday, November 9, 2015 in his home.
Okie was born on September 5, 1967 in Bellaire, Ohio. He was the only son of Okie Eugene Barton, Sr. and Marge Eugenia Garloch-Barton of Stewartsville, Ohio.
Okie was a heavy equipment mechanic at Marietta Coal Company and a United Methodist by faith. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed automobiles, fishing and had a love for hunting. He was an experienced hunter, catching many prized bucks and a brown bear during a hunting trip to Colorado.
Okie never knew a stranger, with his wit and warmth his home was a gathering place for many. His contagious laugh and generous spirit were loved by so many. He always sacrificed his needs for the needs of his family and friends.
Okie was the loving husband of the late Louann R. "Annie" Cox Barton. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Alisha Yvonne Barton.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a son, Okie E. Barton III; two sisters, Crystal Barton (Mick) McGuire of Bellaire, and Dawn Barton (Cody) Barack of St. Clairsville. Okie had a special, deep love for his nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. where services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Gerald Blon officiating.
A celebration of his life will take place at the Glencoe Legion, following the burial services in Warnock Cemetery.
Okie is forever loved beyond words and missed beyond measure...
