EVICK, Nick J., 90, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died November 13, 2011 at Park Health Center.
He was born May 12, 1921 in Warnock, Ohio, son of the late Frank P. Evick and Amanda Marie Pavlic Evick.
Nick was a retired owner and operator of Evick Construction Co. He was a member, elder, trustee and deacon of First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville; a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member and past president of the St. Clairsville Ruritan Club; a life member of American Legion Post # 632 and life member of the VFW Post 5356; past board member of the Public Defenders; past member of the school board of MRDD; past board member of the former Buckeye Savings and Loan; and member of St. Clairsville Union Cemetery Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and John Evick; and a sister, Betty Lawson.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Griffith Evick; three daughters, Darcy Porterfield of St. Clairsville, Jan (Doug) Short and Jodi (Edward) Cunningham both of Marysville, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Brian, Kevin and Blake Porterfield, Lindsey and Braden Short, Nicholas, Kristen and Megan Cunningham.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home.
Belmont County Council of American Legions will conduct services at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
