N. Elizabeth "Libby" Bethel, 90 of St. Clairsville, died Friday, August 26, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on August 8, 1915 a daughter of the late L. K. and Ann L. Pitzer.

Libby was a school teacher in Portsmouth, Ohio, Fairpoint, Ohio and Bellaire, Ohio School Districts. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church at St. Clairsville where she served as an Elder and Deacon and was a member of the Presbyterian Women. She also was a member of Belmont County Retired Teachers Association.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, F. Dale Bethel in 2003.

Libby is survived by her children, Patty (Earl) Stegall of Portsmouth, Virginia, Beverly (Jim) Heddleson of Caldwell, Ohio and Art (Mary) Bethel of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; a brother, Art (Merle) Pitzer of Raleigh, North Carolina; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
