Myrtle Ellen Palmer, 91, of Jacobsburg, Ohio, died December 31, 2014 in Country Club Retirement Center.
She was born in Armstrongs Mills, Ohio on March 13, 1923, daughter of the late William French May and Lucy Rebecca Bennett May.
Myrtle was a homemaker and member of Jacobsburg United Methodist Church. She was kind, compassionate and a caring person, always concerned about the needs of others. She had a passion for writing songs and poetry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Newell S. "Newt" Palmer Sr.; a daughter, Lucy Graham; a granddaughter, Cindy; two sisters, Edna Palmer and Bertha Palmer; and a brother, Albert May.
Surviving are her son, Newell S. (Judy A.) Palmer Jr. of McKinney, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Jason Palmer, Judy L. Palmer, Tony Graham and Teresa Mellott; 10 great grandchildren, Kevin, Austin, Kyla, Tori, Derek, Toni, Brian, Breanna, Tabitha and Jessica; several great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen Powell of Jacobsburg, Ethel Bier of Clarington and Betty Lou Sheets of Moundsville, WVa; 4 brothers, William May of Jay, Florida, Herbert May of Shadyside, Joseph May of Clarington and Arthur "Huck" May of Powhatan Point.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg where services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Armstrong Cemetery.
