Obituary

Michael E. Moore, 66, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died peacefully at home with his family on Monday morning, March 20, 2006. He was born in Weston, West Virginia on October 14, 1939, son of the late Joseph Henry and Nell Fealy Moore.

Michael and family moved to Fairmont where he attended and graduated from St. Peter?s School in 1957. Mike was manager of the St. Peter?s Basketball team. He attended the Fairmont Business College until he entered the Army where he served as a supply sergeant at Ft. Jackson, SC. Mike worked part-time at McCrory?s while in high school and became a store manager and a district manager for McCrory?s. He managed many stores throughout Pennsylvania and his last store was at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville. Following his time with McCrory?s, he worked briefly for Prudential but decided he enjoyed retirement more. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing, walking, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Karen Moran Moore. They eloped to Winchester, Virginia on April 27, 1964 and have had nearly forty-two years together. He is also survived by his children, Kathleen Dyan Moore of Cincinnati, Ohio and Patrick Michael Moore and his wife Sabina; and a granddaughter, Morgan Madge Moore, whom he loved dearly; a sister, Mr. and Mrs. Tom (Margaret Ann) Blake of Roanoke, West Virginia and several first cousins. He was also very special to Karen?s family: Marilyn Heinle, Peter (Pat) Moran, Don (Gwen) Moran, Linda (Don) Doughty, Connie (Andy) Sivak, Annabelle Willard, Rebecca (Jim) Donley, Charles Moran, Lonnie (Gail) Moran and Lorena (Dan) Piteleski; also many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and his sisters, Marie McIsaac and Josephine Patrick.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until time of service at 5 p.m.

The family will also receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, West Virginia, where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairmont.
