Melvin L. Jackson Sr., 77, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died May 7, 2017 in Forest Hill Care Center. He was born January 4, 1940 in Adena, Ohio son of the late Leslie and Alene Jackson.
Melvin was a retired employee of Ormet Corporation and Blaw-Knox. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Shiloh Temple Apostolic Church.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Jackson; a brother, Edward Jackson and a cousin, Helen Reynolds.
Surviving are his wife of 50+ years, Portia Y. Boyd Jackson; a daughter, DeAndrea Jackson; three sons, Melvin Jackson Jr., Maurice (Christy) Jackson and Chris (Wendy) Jackson; a grandson, Jermaine Jackson; a step-grandson, Elijah Simons; and two brothers, Leslie (Helen "Wendy") Jackson and David Jackson.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville.
Visitation will again be held at Shiloh Temple Apostolic Church, 117 First St., Bridgeport, Ohio on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of Services at Noon with Pastor Tyron C. Spencer officiating.
Full Military Honors will be conducted at Noon by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Short Creek Cemetery, Georgetown.
