Melissa Marie Marhefka, 48, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died at her home May 9, 2015.
She was born July 18, 1966 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, daughter of John S. and Barbara Engbert Marhefka.
Melissa was a pharmacist and was the former manager of the Mount De Chantal Kroger Pharmacy in Wheeling, former manager of Rite Aid Pharmacy in Barnesville and former pharmacist for Riesbeck's in St. Clairsville. She was a graduate of Duquesne University and a 1984 graduate of St. Clairsville High School. Melissa was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville. She was devoted to her boys, her family and her profession and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Mary Marhefka and Frank and Agnes Engbert; five beloved aunts, Rebecca Stiffler, Bertha Hofecker, Cathrine Kochjar, Susie Engbert, Emma DeRubis; three beloved uncles, Francis Engbert, Henry Engbert and William Burns; cousins, Ryan Hofecker, Donald Hofecker and Mary Beth Kochjar.
Surviving are her parents, John and Barbara Marhefka of St. Clairsville; two sons, Nathaniel James Marhefka of State College, Pennsylvania and Mitchell Anthony Marhefka of St. Clairsville; her one brother, Jon (Susan) Marhefka of St. Clairsville; her five sisters, Daphne (Mike) Scordato of Morgantown, West Virginia, Pamela (Scott) Ward of Metairie, Louisiana, Dr. Stephanie (David) Marhefka-Day of Tampa, Florida, Suzanne (Gregory) Marhefka-Chofardet of Basel, Switzerland and Katrina Marhefka of Austin, Texas; 11 nieces and nephews, Anna Scordato, Jonathan, Jerrid and Sara Marhefka, Baily, Nicholas and Jacob Ward, Oliver and Max Day, Agathe and Henri Chofardet.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville with Father Thomas Chillog, the celebrant.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
