Mary Taylor Brown Webber, 93, died on May 22, 2016 in Lynchburg Virginia. She was born September 21, 1922 to Herman and Lucy McKelvey Taylor on the family farm near Key, Ohio.
Mary was preceded in death by Arch Brown of Powhatan Point OH, her first husband of 43 years (1942-1985), and by Carl Webber of Smith Mt Lake VA, her second husband of 7 years (1991-1998). She was also preceded by 8 siblings William (Mary) Taylor, Alma (Homer) Montgomery, Laura (Carl) Decker, George (Vivian) Taylor, Charles (Tommy) Taylor, Frazier (Martha) Taylor, Robert (Patricia) Taylor, and Herbert Lee (Naomi) Taylor.
In addition to her surviving sisters-in-law, Pat and Naomi, she is survived by her son Harold (Barbara) Brown of Sunnyvale CA, her daughter Lucinda (Jeff) Schleicher of Forest VA, her four grandchildren Christopher (Erin) Brown of Santa Clara, CA, Erinn Schleicher (Steve) Williams of Decatur GA, Heather Brown (Emmett) Cervelli of Sunnyvale CA, William (Maria) Schleicher of Westlake OH, her 9 great-grandchildren and by 23 much loved nieces and nephews.
Mary attended Key Ridge Elementary, Bellaire High School (1940) and graduated Cum Laude from Ohio University (1963). She taught 3rd grade for 25 years at the St. Clairsville-Richland Elementary School.
Mary was a faithful member of the Belmont United Presbyterian Church, Key Ridge where she served as treasurer for over 30 years and sang in the choir for nearly 50 years. She served as Worthy Matron of Weyer #515 Order of Eastern Star (Centerville) in 1958 and 1973. In 1978 Mary was appointed Ohio's Grand Eastern Star Representative to Louisiana. Mary was also active and held offices with White Shrine of Jerusalem, Daughters of the Nile, Zane's Trace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Psi Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also a member of the Ohio Association of Retired Teachers.
In retirement, Mary spent 26 winters in Estero Florida and traveled frequently to visit family in California, Georgia and Virginia.
Mary will be remembered for her love of family and friends and for her service to community.
Her family will receive family and friends on Friday, May 27th from 3 PM to 8 PM at Toothman's Funeral Home, 49484 O.R. & W. Station Rd., Jacobsburg, Ohio. An Eastern Star service will be held on Friday evening at 7 PM.
Her memorial service will begin at 1 PM on Saturday, May 28th at the Belmont United Presbyterian Church, 52835 Key-Bellaire Road (Route 147) with Pastor Pete Walburn presiding. Internment will follow at the Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
