Mary Jean Thornton, 62 of Neffs, Ohio died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Wheeling Hospital.She was born at Martins Ferry, Ohio on June 1, 1945 a daughter of the late Virgil Eugene Burghy and Mary Katherine Pelkey Burghy.

Mary Jean was a full time wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at Key Ridge.

She is survived by her husband George M. "Buck" Thornton; sons Robert A. Thornton and Bradley J. Thornton both at home; sisters Betty Ann Knight of Piedmont, Ohio and Sarah Louise Richards of St. Clairsville, Ohio and grandsons Ty M. Thornton and Cameron M. Thornton.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, Ohio on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Nellie Millhouse and Pastor David Demarest officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens at Pleasant Grove.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Neffs Fire Department, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church or Coalbrook Presbyterian Church.
