Mary Lou Schmitt, 63, of Belmont, Ohio died September 23, 2021 at her home.

She was born October 19, 1957 in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late William A. Kirkland and Virginia L. Boyd Kirkland Bell.

Mary Lou was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed, painting, puzzles and music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William "Bill" Kirkland.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Richard "Rick" Schmitt; two sons, Richard "Ricky" Schmitt and Ronald "Ronnie" Schmitt; two grandchildren, Johnathan and Alyssa Schmitt; two brothers, George (Cathy) and Charles (Dayna) Kirkland; two sisters, Virginia Sue (Tom) Kovaly and Vicky Lynn Lent; a sister-in-law, Brenda Kirkland; two stepsisters, Kimberly Sexton and Audrey Sabo; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Monday from Noon until time of service at 2 p.m. with Wayne Clark officiating.  Burial will follow in Belmont Cemetery.
