Mary Ellen Hughes, 92 formerly of Glencoe died Tuesday, April 29, 2003 in Columbus. She was born November 7, 1910 in Cecil, PA a daughter of the late John Kostelia and Josephine Kobetic Kostelia.

She was a member of the Warnock Community Church and the Glencoe Senior Citizens Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Wesley Hughes on July 10, 1989; five brothers, John, Henry, Matt, George, and Frank Kostelia; three sisters, Anne Weston, Rose Johnson, and Julia Kovaly.

Surviving are two sons, James R. Hughes and his wife Shirley of Pearland, TX. and John H. Hughes and his wife Laura Jo of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Paula Jo (Brian) Thomas, Kathryn (Sid) Powers, Jennifer (Art) Carr, Patrick (Jennifer) Hughes, Darrell (Michelle) Hughes, Bryan (Tammy) Hughes, and Eric (Shelagh) Hughes; great grandchildren, Nathan Thomas, Sarah Hughes, Erin Thomas, and Rebekah Carr; a sister, Pauline Gailus of Watertown, CT; nieces and nephews, Louise Barrett, Sue Kostelia Vavrek, John Kostelia, Henry Jay Kostelia, Tom Kovaly, Beverly Kovaly Duffy, Charles Gailus, Jr., and Janet Gailus.

Friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St.Clairsville where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2003 with Pastor Art Carr officiating. Burial follows in Warnock Cemetery.
