Mary Alice Groves, 88, of East Richland, Ohio died Monday, January 5, 2015 at Forest Hill Care Center, St. Clairsville. She was born November 21, 1926 in Morristown, Ohio, daughter of the late Albert Peter Wright and Luna Fort Wright.

Mary retired from Riesbeck's Food Market after many years of employment. She attended East Richland Friends Church; and she was a loving mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Groves Sr.; her sisters, Norma Rossiter and Virginia Pavell; and her brother, James Wright.

Surviving are her six children, Loretta (Clayton) Connell of Byesville, Charles (Susan) Groves of Barnesville, James Groves of Blaine, Ronald (Becky) Groves of Morristown, Connie (Roy) Gummere of Bannock and Diane (Wayne) Oakes of Belle Valley. She has 18 Grandchildren; 4 Step grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Wayne Ickes officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
