Mary Elizabeth Bass, 95, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died February 6, 2019 in Wheeling Hospital.

She was born June 21, 1923 on the family farm outside of Bellaire, Ohio daughter of the late Chalmer B. Hendershot and Edna Mae Gatten Hendershot.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved anything that sparkled and lived her life in laughter. She enjoyed word searches, puzzles, gardening, flowers and was exceptional at finding four leaf clovers. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Jacobsburg.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James Lloyd Bass Sr.; four sisters, Olive Dixon, Edna Mabel Hendershot, Leona Hendershot and Dorothy Lee Koonce; two brothers, Charles and John Hendershot.

Surviving are her daughter, Kay Lynn (John) Sowinski of St. Clairsville; a son, James Lloyd Bass Jr. of Bellaire; four grandchildren, Kyle Michael (Jessica) Sowinski, Juliana Jade Sowinski (Matthew) Randolph; Kristin Leigh Bass and Tyler James Bass; a great granddaughter, Kassidy Rae Sowinski.

Family and friends will be received at the St. Clairsville Church of Christ on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 1 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2 p.m. with Brad Schrum officiating.
