Martin Anthony "Marty" Mozden, 87, of Kinsman Rd, St. Clairsville, Ohio, died May 18, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born May 12, 1929 in Kinsman, Ohio, a son of the late Peter and Sophia Cistune Mozden.
Martin was a retired clerk from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry Plant. He was a former member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Marty was an awesome, fun loving uncle, he loved to laugh, joke and kid around. In his younger years, he was called "Griz Adams" by his sister Wanda and her children in reference to his big beard which resembled the star of the television series "Grizzly Adams". He was born and raised in the home he currently resided in and has lived there for all but 2 years when he was stationed in Germany.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles (Antonia) Mozden, Walter (Ida Mae) Mozden, Alex (Helena) Mozden, Salvester Mozden and Lewey Mozden and four sisters, Mary (Thurman) Zonker, Helen (Joe) Woodstuff, Wanda (Henry) Friede and Sue (Joe) Pitak; three nephews.
Surviving are his caregiver, friend and neighbor, Tom Miller; six nephews; nine nieces living in Ohio, Washington State, New Mexico and Florida. And many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and again on Thursday from Noon to 12:45 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held following visitation on Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Ed Maxfield as celebrant. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in St. Clairsville.
The Belmont County Veterans Association will conduct Full Military Honor Services on Thursday in the cemetery.
