Marman Arthur Mead, age 81, of Belmont, died Sunday, July 10, 2005 at the Aspinwall Veteran?s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was born May 5, 1924 in Bethesda, Ohio, son of the late George and Pearl Holden Mead.
Marman was a retired Machinist from Blaw-Knox in Wheeling. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II; a member of the National Rifle Association, the Bethesda Sportsmen?s Club, the Ohio Gun Collectors and former member of the VFW Post # 5356 at St. Clairsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anson Mead; and a sister, Kitty Morris.
Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Jessee Mead; three sons, Alan Mead and Cindy Ward, Arthur Mead and Mike Mead all of Belmont; a daughter, Marilyn Applegarth and husband Robert of Belmont; two brothers, Ed Mead of Delaware, Ohio and Bill Mead of Bethesda; two sisters, Rosie Campbell and Janet Roberts both of Bethesda; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery at Bethesda.
Full Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of VFW?s.
