Marlene Anita Gates Scott, 81, of Belmont, OH passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at her home.  She was born in New Martinsville, WV., a daughter of the late Richard Clark Gates and Thelma Marie Vancamp Gates-Battocletti.

Marlene was raised in Bridgeport, OH and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1958 and a Catholic by faith.  She married Paul Emerson Scott in 1958 in Cumberland, MD.  She was a 31-year employee of VOCA/Rescare in St. Clairsville as a Habilitation Specialist caring for intellectually and developmentally disabled adults.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Scott, Sr. in 2014; her stepfather, Lawrence J. Battocletti, Jr; siblings, Paul E. Gates, Pauline L. Riggs, Richard C. Gates, Eugene O. Gates, Millicent E. Moore, Lora Jo Smith and Vivian Jackson Goudy.

Surviving are her children, Paul E. Scott, Jr., of St. Clairsville, Daniel C. (Kathy) Scott and Mary Beth Scott both of Belmont; a brother, Lawrence J. "Buzz" Battocletti, III; four grandchildren, Matthew Paul Scott, Sarah Louise Scott, Josh Doty and Kaitlyn Marie (Matthew) Kuhn; two great grandsons, Nolan Kuhn and Tucker Kuhn.

Friends will be received on Friday from 3-7 pm at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with services on Saturday at noon with Monsgr. George Coyne officiating.  Burial will follow in Chestnut Level Cemetery, Belmont.
