June 3, 2018
Marjory M. Bovenizer of St. Clairsville
God is welcoming a beautiful soul to heaven. Born in 1929 to the late A.E. and Sylvia McConkey, of Athens, Ohio, Marjory died on June 3, 2018, and is survived by: Eldred R. (Bob) Bovenizer, her husband of 69 years and Dean Emeritus of Ohio University Eastern Campus; daughters, Elaine (Scott) Wilson of suburban Cincinnati and Joan (Nick) Precilio of suburban Chicago; three grandchildren, Keith (Kelly) Wilson and Megan Wilson (Rob) Brown of suburban Cincinnati, and Neil Precilio of Chicago; six great-grandchildren, Macayla, Olivia, Sophie, and Maddox Wilson and Robby and Mesfin Brown; and two nephews, Ben Brooks of New Marshfield, Ohio, and Andrew McConkey of the Seattle area.
Marjory's two siblings preceded her in death, Richard McConkey of Kirkland, Washington, and Emily Brooks Kail of The Plains, Ohio.
For several years Marjory worked as Secretary to the Athletic Director and head coaches at Ohio University in Athens before becoming a full-time homemaker. Marjory loved to sing and was a church choir member and children's Sunday School teacher in a couple Ohio towns. She moved to St. Clairsville in 1965 and was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church for 53 years where she led children's music during Sunday School for many years.
Marjory was a sincere and humble Christian, a dedicated wife and mother, and a caring friend who called, visited, and took food to neighbors and church shut-ins. Marjory saw and brought out the best in others. Her kindness, courtesy, ready smile, and cheerfulness despite health challenges, touched those blessed to know her.
