Marjorie A. Strauss, 61 of Bridgeport, Ohio and life long resident of Belmont County died Friday, November 19, 2004 at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.
She was born at Martins Ferry, Ohio July 16, 1943 a daughter of the late John L and Helen M. Ostroski Strauss.
Marge was a graduate of St. John Central High School at Bellaire and attended the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Wheeling Jesuit University and the American Institute of Banking. She had been an employee of the Bank of Wheeling and Ogden Newspapers and was currently employed at T.J. Maxx at the Ohio Valley Mall. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Wofhurst where she was a member of the Catholic Women?s Club having served as president for 8 years. She also served as CWC president for Presentation Deanery for the Diocese of Steubenville and was a Eucharistic minister to the shut-in?s of St. Joseph Church. In addition she served as a volunteer at the Catholic Neighborhood Center of Wheeling where she delivered "Meals on Wheels" as well as doing prison ministry at the West Virginia Northern Jail and the West Virginia State Prison for Women.
She is survived by a brother, John J. "Jack" Strauss of Fairfax Station, Virginia; a sister, Janet L Maxian of Houston, Texas; a nephew, Michael Maxian and nieces Amanda and Lucy Maxian.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Vigil services at 1 p.m.. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph?s Church at Wolfhurst with Msgr. Mark Froehlich as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Neighborhood Center or Health Right both of Wheeling.
