Johnson, Marion E., 89, of Lafferty, died Monday, March 15, 2010 in East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was born August 26, 1920 in Midway, Ohio, son of the late Charles and Lucy Bumgardner Johnson.
Marion retired from Ohio River Collieries in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and cookouts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Hennebert Johnson; 2 step grandsons, Michael Spano and Dwayne Feeney; 6 brothers, Charles,, William, Harold, Wilbur, Richard and Don Johnson; and a sister, Emma Cordner.
Surviving are his stepchildren, Bonnie Copeland of St. Clairsville, Dorothy Spano of Lafferty, Robert Hartman, Charles Smith and Sandra Feeney all of Lafayette, Indiana; 14 step grandchildren; 23 step great grandchildren; 11 step great great grandchildren; two sisters, Lil Paytash of Greensboro, NC and Lucy Maleski of Lafferty; and a brother, Louis Johnson of Uniontown.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville where services will be held on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. with Belmont County Council of American Legions conducting Full Military Honors followed by a service with Rev. Paul J. Elerick officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
