Marilee Zusack, 90, of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed peacefully on September 30, 2022, in her home surrounded by loving family and friends.
She was born November 12, 1931, in Maynard Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank J. Dopkiss and Alma M. Applegarth Dopkiss.
Marilee was a retired Bank teller having worked at Buckeye Savings and Loan in St. Clairsville, Ohio. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to all who knew her. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She loved spending time with family, reading, puzzles, Home Pizza, Las Vegas, fireworks, and of course her favorite, Sarris chocolate bars. She was a member of Maynard United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Zusack; daughter, Renee D. Zusack; sister, Margaret Geraldine Sikora; sisters-in-law, Dorthy Jean Dopkiss, Irene Plewniak, and Velma Skovron; brothers-in-law, John Zusack, Joseph Skovron, Frank Plewniak, and John Robert "Chick" Sikora; nieces, Melinda Dopkiss, Donna Johnson and Linda Kocot; nephews, Joseph "Sonny" Skovron and Donald Zusack.
Marilee is survived by her sons, Patrick (Denise) Zusack of Windermere, Florida, James (Jodi) Zusack of Bellaire, Ohio, grandchildren Ashley (Sean) Landau of Apex, North Carolina and Logan Zusack of Bellaire Ohio; great grandchildren, Hailey and Liam Landau; brothers Gerald (Nancy) Dopkiss of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Frank Dopkiss of Columbus, Ohio; nieces and nephews; and friends who became family, Kathy and Wayne Harding and their family of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and Crystal Myers also of St. Clairsville, Ohio.
A private burial in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville followed by a celebration of life service at the Fairpoint Polish Club for family and friends will be held November 12, 2022, beginning at 1 p.m.
Although Marilee suffered with dementia, her beloved daughter fought and lost a long battle with Parkinson's. Renee's passing was Marilee's greatest heartbreak.
