Madelyn M. Matis Melet of St. Clairsville, Ohio passed peacefully July 24, 2018 six days prior to her 102nd birthday.
She was born July 30, 1916 in Maynard, Ohio a daughter of the late John Anthony Matis and Mary Benitz Matis.
Madelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a member of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Colerain. She enjoyed working on variety puzzles and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Mike, Joseph and John Matis; and two sisters, Helen Terribury and Ann Doleski.
Surviving are her three daughters, Nancy Blake of Glen Dale, West Virginia, Donna (Chuck) Pettit of Mount Pleasant, Ohio and Pam (Randy) Schambach of Follansbee, West Virginia; a sister, Rose Timko of Barton; six grandchildren, Chad (Shawnnah) Blake, Ryan (Marla) Blake, Kim (Shane) Florence, Kurt (Heather Ann) Pettit, Austin Schambach and Kelly Schambach; nine great grandchildren, Sydney, Shelby, Gianna, Gabriella, Giulana, Ryan, Peyton, Olivia and Emerly; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Father Dale Tornes the celebrant. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
Madelyn's family would like to thank the staff of Beacon House for their compassionate care over nearly seven years.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Church in Colerain.
