Davern, M. Marguerite, 95 of Bloomingdale, OH formerly of Jacobsburg, OH died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Gables Care Center in Hopedale, Ohio.
She was born September 24, 1916 in Wheeling, WV the daughter of John Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Graham Thalman and was raised from infancy by Bess and William Bovenizer of Jacobsburg, OH.
Marguerite was a retired teacher and principal having begun her career at the Cool Hill School near Centerville and later was principal and teacher at Jacobsburg and Centerville Elementary Schools in Smith Township, Ohio. She also taught Children's Literature for many years at Ohio University Eastern in St. Clairsville. Marguerite was a member of the Jacobsburg United Methodist Church, Ohio Retired Teachers Assoc., Glencoe American Legion Auxiliary, Weyer Chapter #515 Order of Eastern Star at Centerville and AFSME.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis "Frank" Davern, Bess and William Bovenizer; brothers, Joseph and Charles Thalman and half brother, Pete Imhoff.
She is survived by her daughters Anita Livingston-Pirraglia of Bloomingdale and Virginia E. Ross of Summerville, SC; half sisters Clara Quantmeyer of Baltimore City, MD and Rosemary Knoedler of Whitehall, MD; grandchildren Aaron (Stacy) Ross and children (Camerin, Baylee and Cambell) and Andrew Ross all of Williamsburg, VA, D. Mark (Ronya) Livingston of Michigan, Chad Livingston of Grand Junction, CO and Craig (Dawn) Livingston of Barnesville, OH.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, Apr. 20, 2012 at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, OH from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. with Eastern Star services to follow.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Epworth Center, 301 N. Main St., Bethesda, OH. A meal will be served following the service.
