Lyle Ross Tipton, 80, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Wheeling Hospital.

He was born April 10, 1944, in Bellaire, Ohio, a son of the late Daymond Edgar Tipton and Arlie M. Bumgardner Tipton McMahon.

Lyle was a retired Federal Mine Inspector for the Mine Safety and Health Administration. He was a past master of the former Belmont Lodge #16 F. & A.M. and current member of Weyer Lodge #541 in Centerville and a member of the Fairpoint Polish Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepfather, Harry McMahon; a daughter, Melody Tipton Frazier; and his three brothers, Donald, Damon "Larry", and Dwight Tipton.

Lyle is survived by his loving wife, Alma Baker Tipton; three sons, Lyle R. (Ronda) Tipton II, Patrick (Christie) Tipton and Caleb (Alissa) Tipton; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with Masonic Funeral Service at 7:45 p.m. at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio, where services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m., with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. The burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
