Luther Raymond Secrest, 88 of Chapel Hill Rd., Belmont, Ohio died Thursday, April 16, 2009.
He was born October 13, 1920 in Smith Township, a son of the late Charles Ellsworth Secrest and Edna Pearl Walters Secrest.
Luther was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel?s Martins Ferry Plant, former employee of Blaney Lumber, and a farmer, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, member of the Bethesda VFW, and the United Steel Workers of America.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Cline; brothers, Frank, Ray, and Thomas Secrest; sisters, Goldie Wise and Martha Workman.
Surviving are his children, Sandra (Neal) Warrick of Barnesville, Sue Mounts of Belmont, Mark (Tina) Secrest of Belmont, and Tim (Pam) Secrest of Moundsville; a sister, Mary Phillips of Bethesda; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and his faithful companion, Sheila.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. where services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Ed Emory officiating. Burial follows in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Belmont.
