Lowell D. Akers, 85, of Morristown, OH passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born September 20, 1935 in Portsmouth, OH., a son of the late Earl Wade and Cecil Estepp Akers.
Lowell was retired heavy equipment operator of the former R & F Coal Company and a Protestant by faith. Lowell was a member of Friendship Lodge 89 F & AM and was a current member of Morristown Village Council. He was an avid fan of OSU Buckeyes, John Deere Tractors and coached Pony League Baseball for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Anita L. Warfield Akers in 2018; a son, Todd Akers; a brother, David Akers; a sister, Sharon Graham.
Surviving are his children, Tony (Tammy) Akers of St. Clairsville, OH., Terry Akers, Kim (Mark) Kurucz, Tom Akers all of Morristown and Larry Akers of Bethesda, OH; a brother, Jack Akers of Morristown; a sister, Tami (Donny) Van Fossen of Belmont, OH; grandchildren, Travis (Crystal), Kevin (Angel), Dusty, Scott, Brittney and Terry Lee; six great grandchildren.
Private services will be held on Saturday at Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville with Pastor Wayne Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Morristown.
