On January 4, 2017 after a lengthy battle with dementia, Lois Lee Pickering went home to be with the Lord. The youngest of 4, Lois was born to William and Marjorie (Giffen) Shambaugh on December 22, 1935.
Lois was described by her classmates as the girl with laughing eyes. She spent her life being exactly what she wanted to be; a wife and mother who loved Jesus.
She married the love of her life, Byron, in 1956. They were married nearly 48 years until his death in 2004. Together they raised their children: Jay Lee, Janet Lynne Webster, Joan Louise (Ron) Lepic, Charles Byron (Julie), and Richard Lewis. They also had a daughter "Sarah Jane" who went to be with the Lord at birth.
Aside from being an amazing wife and mother, Lois faithfully took every opportunity to testify of the goodness of God and to attend church, pray and read her Bible. She will be missed.
In addition to her children, she is survived by 6 grandchildren: Jaynee (Terrell) Webster, Bryant, Caleb (Jessa), Jared (Jordan), JoHannah, and Titus Lepic and 10 great grandchildren: Tavian, Jamarcus, Qwashaun, Jayleona, Cameron, Libberti, Naomi, Braylon, JoyAnna and Ariya along with siblings Peg Coleman, Bea Blazek, and Bill Shambaugh and several nieces and nephews who she loved as well.
Visiting hours will be held at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Visitation will also be held at East Richland Friends Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of Services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
The family would like to thank the staff of Valley Hospice for all their care and support.
