IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda (Shia)
Skocik
May 20, 1931 – March 31, 2022
Linda Marie (Shia) Skocik, 90, of St. Clairsville, OH, passed away peacefully into our Lords arms March 31, 2022.
Linda was born May 20, 1931, in Wheeling WV to the late Anthony and Madlina Shia. She is the last to go to heaven of the 10 Shia children born to them. Linda was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clairsville and also attended many services and events at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Wheeling. She was so proud of her Lebanese heritage.
Attending the Lebanese picnic was an annual highlight. She could be seen dancing the Dabke with her sisters, cousins, and brothers. All donning black attire and gold jewelry.
She graduated from St Josephs' Academy High School. Linda held various jobs before getting married and raising her daughters, but her true passion was in real estate. Linda loved being a realtor for Harvey Goodman Relators. (She would have loved selling houses in today's market)!
Linda was married to Stephen Skocik Jr. for 60 years before his passing in July of 2021. If you knew this couple, you knew that it was team Steve and Linda. They did everything together. They traveled the world. They entertained. They attended their children's and grandchildren's activities. More recently they were very active at Mill Run Assisted Living where they played euchre, blackjack, Rummicube, made crafts, and were entertained by live music weekly. They attended mass and happy hours. (Did I mention they were catholic?)
Left to cherish these beautiful memories are their two daughters Madeleine (Bobby) Nikolaus of Hilliard, OH and Stephanie (Jimmy) Ivey of Colonial Heights, VA. Linda's grandchildren and everyone that knew her called her Mimi. Mimi will be missed daily by her grandchildren Alivia, Rebecca and Stephen Nikolaus and Jimmy, Madlina, Madison and Makayla Ivey, great grandchildren Payton and Colton Ivey. They loved their grandchildren more than anything and the kids will always remember that special bond that they had with their Mimi and PapPap.
Left also to celebrate her life are brother and sister-in-law Ed and Caroline Skocik, the best travel companions ever and her loving, sweet, devoted sister-in-law Mary Ann Skocik (Bill Wiseman), many nieces and nephews and dearest friend Helen Niemiec who took Holy Communion to Steve and Linda while they were at home and then penned a letter to her every week for four years.
She will be remembered with great love by her adopted daughters Christine Harkins, Julie Locke, and their families.
Visitation will be Wednesday April 6 from 4-7 PM at Toothman Funeral Home, 141 S. Marietta Street, St. Clairsville, OH 43950. Visitation continues at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St Clairsville from 10:00AM until time of mass at 10:30AM Thursday April 7 with Fr. Thomas Chillog the celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Parish / School.
The Skocik family would like to thank all of the friends and caregivers during this journey and final earthly chapter for Steve and Linda. We were so blessed by the team at Mill Run. They were truly extended family. Sheila, Kim, Asha, Teresa, Prema, Felicia, Chuck, and Janet to name a few showed them love, happiness, respect, and a whole new world of what senior living should be like. We would also like to thank their therapy team from Summit Health Care. Brooke, Heather, and Gina! They were more like daughters than therapists. True angels on earth!
To the entire cast above we say well done!
God answered every prayer along this journey of Steve and Linda, showing us much grace and mercy along the way.
"The Lord has done great things for us; we are filled with gladness and joy!" Ps. 126
Linda, may you find comfort as you watch down on your family and friends knowing that you nurtured them with love, joy, and a whole lot of orneriness! May you find peace sweet Linda now reunited with Steve.
Be at rest once more O' my soul, for the Lord has been good to you!
