Obituary

Nida, Lewis E., 66, of Lafferty, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry.

Lewis was born in Walton, West Virginia, November 14, 1942, son of Hershal and Levina White Nida.

He was retired from Ohio River Colliers and was a retired truck driver. Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War; and a member of the Lafferty Moose Lodge.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Nida.

Surviving are his wife, Carol S. Glover Nida; four children, Ed Phillips of Bethesda, Leanna Tippie of the home, Tabatha Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee and Lewis E. Nida Jr. of Martins Ferry; his parents, Hershal and Levina Nida of Walton, West Virginia; a brother, Richard (Chris) Nida of Martins Ferry; a sister, Carolin (John) McCroskie of Walton, West Virginia; nine grandchildren; a great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery.

There will be a service held on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home by the Lafferty Moose Lodge. Full military honor services will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions on Friday at 11 a.m.
