Obituary

Brokaw, Leila M., 94, of West Unity, Ohio formerly of Flushing, and a previous resident of Dream Haven, Edgerton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, Archbold, Ohio.

Leila was born March 23, 1919 the daughter of the late Ross A. and Ethel O. (Humphrey) Murphy.

She was a 1938 graduate of Barnesville High School. Leila married Charles Lewis Brokaw on June 22, 1938, and he preceded her in death in February 1983. A devoted wife and mother, Leila was a member of the Flushing United Methodist Church, Flushing, Ohio. While living in West Unity, Leila attended the Stryker First Baptist Church. Leila enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She found pleasure in watching birds, but her most important activity was spending time with her family.

Surviving are her two sons, Edward (Sally) Brokaw of Somerset, Pennsylvania and David (Joy) Brokaw of West Unity; six grandchildren, Greg (Dawn) Brokaw of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Jeff (Kristie) Brokaw of South Park, Pennsylvania, Scott Brokaw of Friedens, Pennsylvania, Brian (Bobbie) Brokaw of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lori (Brian) Stout of Indianapolis, Indiana and Shawn (Jessica) Brokaw of West Unity, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor and Megan Brokaw, William and Alexandra Brown, Zane, Ethan and Asher Stout; one sister, Dorothy Kaiser of Barnesville, Ohio along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Kathleen Brokaw, four brothers, Harper, Wade, Bainard and one infant brother as well as two sisters, Mary Murphy and an infant sister.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio from 1 p.m. until time of Services at 3 p.m., with Rev. David Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
