Obituary

McGilton, Laverne "Tex", 86 of Stewartsville, Ohio passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012.

He was born December 10, 1925 in Stewartsville, a son of the late Thurman and Mildred Masters McGilton.

Tex was a retired blacksmith for Franklin Mine No. 25 at New Athens, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, and a Methodist by faith.

He loved horses and working with his tractor.

Surviving are his wife, Emily Palmer McGilton; four children, Debrah (Kerry) Duke of Texas, Keith (Lori) McGilton of Alabama, Kevin (Misty) McGilton of Stewartsville, and Kurt (Rhonda) McGilton of Belmont; a brother, Thurman "Termite" McGilton of Belmont; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. where services will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon.

Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.

Belmont County Council of American Legions will provide full military honors at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksburg United Methodist Church.
