Haught, Laverne, 77, of Alledonia, Ohio, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 at Cleveland Clinic. He was born Dec. 6, 1931 in Armstrongs Mills, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Irene Athey Haught.
Laverne was a retired employee from Ohio Ferro Alloys and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Armstrongs Mills United Methodist Church; a member of Beallsville American Legion; a member of the Powhatan VFW; and a member of the KWVA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty and a brother, Lowell.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Goddard Haught; two daughters, Diana Mercer of Armstrongs Mills, Ohio and Dawn Minder of Miltonsburg, Ohio, four grandchildren, Cassidy, Nicole, Shane and Cole.
Family and friends will be received Today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg, Ohio, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with Ed Fellabaum Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Armstrong Cemetery with the Powhatan Veterans Honor Guard conducting Military Graveside Services.
