Kenneth Richard Workley, 86, of Flushing, Ohio died September 15, 2019 in the Continuous Care Center in Wheeling, WV.
He was born September 28, 1932 in Zelienople, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Charles N. and Elizabeth A. Heckert Workley.
Ken was a former carpenter with Willard Cunard Construction and former owner and operator of Kenneth Workley Contracting. He was a retired electrician from Consolidation Coal Company having worked on the Silver Spade and Gem of Egypt. After his work in the coalfields he taught the first carpentry class at the Belmont County JVS. He earned his BS Degree from Ohio University Belmont and later served as a minister with the United Methodist Churches in Quaker City, Byesville and Salesville. He was also the owner of Ken's Plants in Flushing. Ken was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who enjoyed getting to know people and talking to folks.
Over the years the love and heart felt affection of Ken and Marlene has led to a wonderful extended family of many people that view them as adopted parents.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kent Robert Workley.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Marlene Ballog Workley; three children, Sonia Workley, Rik (Susan) Workley and John (Juliane) Workley; five grandchildren, Richard, Dylan and Luke Workley and Elaina and John Paul Workley; five siblings, Grace Fox, Robert Workley, Oliver Workley, Lynn Workley, and Virginia Ponzani; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Flushing United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Sept. 17 th from 1 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Al Hoder officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing United Methodist Church.
