Obituary

Kenneth J. McFarland, 86 formerly of Colerain Pike, St. Clairsville died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Wheeling Hospital.

He was born at Martins Ferry on October 7, 1919 a son of the late Fred J. and Eva Martin McFarland.

Kenny was a retired equipment inspector for the U. S. Government a member of the Church of Christ and was a combat veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II where he was awarded the Bronze Star for valor in combat during the Battle of the Bulge.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Ray McFarland formerly of Colerain Pike and Lawrence McFarland formerly of Pittsburgh and a sister, Martha Brown formerly of Martins Ferry.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Katherine Toohey McFarland; sons Paul McFarland of Athens, Ohio and Eric McFarland of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and a sister, Betty Hunt of Barnesville.

A private family funeral service will be held on Friday at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville.

Military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion at the funeral home.
