Joyce Ann Hummel, 82, of St. Clairsville, formerly of Wheeling, died April 18, 2024, in Liza's Place, Wheeling.
She was born November 21, 1941, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Harry Baranowski and Angela Martha Janeczko Baranowski.
Joyce was a 1959 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Wheeling, a graduate of the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from Ohio Valley Medical Center after 30 years of service and was a retired case manager from West Virginia Maternal Child Health Care Special Needs Program. An active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, Joyce was a caring and devoted Christian. Her love of family and especially the grandkids was most important to her. She enjoyed cooking, travel, vacationing in Florida, and she was an avid collector of antiques and Napco porcelain figurines.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph C. Hummel Jr., and a brother, Robert Baranowski.
Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Camella J. "Cammy" Hummel and Melissa J. "Missie" Milam; two grandchildren, Sherman and David Milam; a daughter by heart, Suzanne Flick-Waugh; sisters-in-law, Crystal Baranowski and Jo Ann Earley; nieces, Yvonne Jacobs and Paige Earley; and nephew, Jeff Earley.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11:30 a.m., with Father Thomas Chillog as the celebrant. Arrangements are entrusted to Toothman Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont County Animal Shelter.
