Wodarcyk, Joseph L., 81, of Maynard Road, St. Clairsville, died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry. He was born January 9, 1927 in Maynard, son of the late Peter Paul Wodarcyk and Sophie Sikora Wodarcyk.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Mae Stromski Wodarcyk; and two sisters, Rose Gansler and Mary Shields.
Joe was a retired employee of Consolidation Coal Company. He was a life long member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Maynard. Joe is a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II; he was a member and Past Commander of the Maynard American Legion Post 666. He was a member of the Maynard PNA # 455; and a member of the Knights of Columbus # 435 in St. Clairsville.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia A. Johnson of Maynard; a son, Joseph P. (Lori McCort) Wodarcyk of St. Clairsville; 2 grandchildren, Jason (Courtney) Wodarcyk and Amanda (Desi) Lekanudos; his special great grandson, Kody; 2 sisters, Ann Worwa of Mt. Pleasant and Frances Gilli of St. Clairsville; two brothers, John Wodarcyk of St. Clairsville and Pete Wodarcyk of Adena; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville. Full Military Honor Services will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home by the Belmont County Council of American Legions. A funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Maynard with Father Thomas Graven the celebrant. Entombment follows in Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove.
Knights of Columbus Services will be held on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home followed by American Legion Services at 8:00 p.m. There will be a vigil service on Monday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home followed by PNA Services at 3:45 p.m.
