Joseph Michael Planey, 73, of St. Clairsville, was born August 14, 1948, in Bellaire and died April 25, 2022, at his home. He is the husband of 42 years to Paula (Donley) Planey.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Luella (Clark) and Joseph D. Planey and his sister, Patricia "Tish" Olinski.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Paula, are his children and grandchildren, Bryan & Kim Planey, Natalie & Brenna, Stephen & Holly Sroka, Zackary, Hannah & Emma, John Paul & Tamara Sroka, Johnna, Tommie Sue & Alvie McGlothlin, Virginia & Matt VanHorn, Gabrielle Miller, his nephews, Jason and Darrin Olinski and their families. Joseph also loved his extended family and friends.

Joe was a retired probation officer from the Belmont County Juvenile Court. He was a 1966 St. Clairsville High School Graduate where he was a '66 Football All Star, he was a Red Devil through and through supporting all athletics, especially the football team. Joe was a 2018 Honorary Captain for the Red Devils Team. He was an avid fisherman and hunter; a past member of the local Bass Fishing Club and a volunteer advocate for Tri-County Help Center.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with friend Gene Sirca officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
