Joseph C. Hummel Jr., 75, of St. Clairsville, died March 15, 2017 at his home.

He was born August 14, 1941 in Glen Dale, West Virginia, son of the late Joseph C. Hummel Sr. and Margaret Ryan Rine.

Joe was a dedicated law enforcement officer serving the communities of Marshall County, West Virginia and Belmont County, Ohio for over fifty years and attained a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Belmont College. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville; a member of Kirkwood Lodge #446 F. & A.M. at Hendrysburg and a former member of the Dukes Auto Club. Joe was a member of the NRA and an expert marksman. His favorite sports teams included the Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Dee Hummel.

Joe is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce A. Baranowski Hummel; two daughters, Camella Jo Hummel of Mason, OH and Melissa J. Hummel Milam of McMechen, WV; two grandchildren, Sherman and David Milam; a sister, Jo Ann Earley (Wally Varrego) of The Villages, FL; a brother, Dr. Michael L. Hummel of Coal Center, PA.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Clairsville from 9 a.m. until time of the Memorial Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. with Father Thomas Chillog as the Celebrant.
