Joseph Arthur DiClemente, 69, of 129 Markatan St., Flushing, Ohio died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio.
He was born July 29, 1935 in Flushing, Ohio. A son of the late Andrew DiClemente and Elsie DeVincenzo DiClemente.
He was a graduate of Flushing High School, a retired employee of R&F Coal in Cadiz, a former construction worker of high tension lines, and member of IBEW Local No. 126, and an Army veteran serving in Germany following WWII . He enjoyed harness racing and was a member of the United States Trotting Association in Columbus. He owned several winning horses over the years and competed at many local county fairs and race tracks. One of his proudest achievements was having played in the Cy Young Baseball League and his photo taken with Cy Young hangs in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Marco and Ray DiClemente and a sister, Alice Buti.
Surviving are two brothers, Eugene "Gene" DiClemente of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and Francis DiClemente of Gallipolis, Ohio; two sisters, Susan Spang of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Karen DiClemente of Anchorage, Alaska; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, Ohio on Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. with Rev. Wayne Ickes officiating. Burial follows in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing.
The Belmont County Council of American Legions will conduct military services at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
