Obituary
Joseph H. Burch, 89, of St. Clairsville, died October 18, 2014 at Park Health Center.
He was born August 2, 1925 in Bellaire, Ohio, son of the late Grover C. and Bertha Yates Burch.
Joe was a retired employee from Buckeye Savings and Loan. He served in the US Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He is a life member of VFW Post #5356 and American Legion Post 159 both in St. Clairsville, the DAV and AMVET groups.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his son, Allen Burch; six sisters, Lydella, Beatrice, Marie, Ruth Ann, Betty Louise and an infant; four brothers, Clyde, Johnny and two infants; and a dear friend, Aileen Adkins.
He is survived by his son, Wilbur Burch of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Richey Burch, Jeremy Burch, Angie Usenick and Hayley Piatt; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m., with Major Louis Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Belmont County Council of American Legions on Tuesday at 12:45 pm in the funeral home.
